Winter Equestrian and Commercial Land Management

Hedgecutting and Vegetation clearing:

Winter is the time to be cutting hedges outside of the bird nesting season which begins on 1st March.

Hedgecutting helps to thicken growth of hedges which in turn provides a safer habitat for our smaller birds as well as providing better wind breaks for horses, it is good to maintain your boundaries to keep ditches clear for water to get away and also allows us to keep fencing clear of overgrowth so we can assess any damage that may need to be repaired or replaced, brambles and hedging can short out electric fencing and encroach into your paddocks reducing grazing potential.

Moss:

Into February, we will be looking at moss control, moss is an issue when soil ph levels are unbalanced, shading and poor drainage is also a contributor which in turn reduces your grazing potential.
Mole draining and sward lifting:
This is a new service we are trialling, these operations are used to help water translocate away from compacted flood prone areas and assist with grass root structure which helps roots to get down deeper and so helps in drought conditions later in the year, it is also great for soil ecology and assisting microorganisms and soil life such as worms to do their natural job.

Log splitting:

We have a log splitter to make life easier if you have a large pile of wood that needs dealing with.
If you would like to discuss any of these services, please contact us.
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support through these very turbulent times and hope to see you in the new year.

It is also a good time to monitor and deal with any trees that may need attention for their health and your safety, falling branches are not only dangerous but can compromise your fencing security.

Please contact us to discuss anything above and to confirm your services required, we understand that situations change and although you may have already spoken to us about maintenance plans it's always worth dropping us a message to confirm.

We will be closed for Christmas from Friday 23rd until Wednesday 4th January. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.  Dan and Nicola.

Thank you for your time and ongoing loyalty.
